Forza Motorsport Premium Upgrade: Everything You Need To Know

We should be able to start playing early TODAY with the Premium Edition!

I think this is a risky one to purchase the upgrade for, due to licensing etc. you don’t get the base game (using GP upgrade) so if it removes from GPU as the older ones have you lose your purchase.

@PsBoxSwitchOwner if you are still playing at that point in time years down the road you just buy the base game only using the discount that is usually applied to games that are taken off game pass.

I'll be getting this pack but still waiting till launch day. As someone who will buy the car packs it makes sense but I really don't like this pre game pass launch creep Xbox are pulling lately so I'll be withholding purchase till the 10th

I used to always go for these upgrades. This will be the first time I'll be skipping it.

Who knows though, maybe I will love this game and will want the upgrade later, but I am skeptical enough to just play it off Gamepass.

Whatever happened to them supporting the game with free monthly content similar to GT7? I remember reading a dev interview a while back promising free content updates for cars/tracks..

@Cikajovazmaj it will be. Forza Horizon 5 had a car pack but also got free story updates and cars etc...
This is the same. Free tracks are coming at regular intervals, along with career mode extras too. Just that there are some extra cars on car pass for those who want them.

@Cikajovazmaj you have featured races & monthly events that let you earn new cars for completing them. I fully expect that many if not all the cars available in these packs will popup via that system at some point in the future. The folks who buy them just get access earlier is all.

They have already announced that new tracks will be a thing that will be added on a regular basis going forward from launch.

I would be tempted but I am voting with my wallet, not a fan of taking advantage of the most faithful in the fanbase.

@GrumpyDev as far as monetisation goes, I think early access is one of the least egregious that publishers have come up with. I'm okay with waiting 5-7 days more for a game I don't want to buy the premium content for (I bought it for Starfield, won't buy it for Forza). I only hope that they don't extend that period further, if it gets to 8+ days it will start to bother me.

I'm a big fan of the Forza games, Motorsport and Horizon, and always get the new content anyway, figured I'd get this to get the early access.

@PsBoxSwitchOwner I think with 7 if you had bought any DLC and had played on GP they game you the game for free when it was removed from sale.

Hate this nickel and diming. We dont exactly get many big 1st party AAA titles on GP, so its despicable that when we finally do we are made to feel like second class players. GP players earning half the amount of credits for ever absolutely stinks.

I used to buy the $99 premium editions. Once I finally acquiesced and joined Game Pass, I have no problem paying the $35 for the premium upgrade. If it is leaving GP somehow, I would just buy the game at a heavy discount.

@GeeForce if you purchase it prior to it being delisted you will still have access to everything you had after it gets delisted

My point was that they don't just go oh the license for this song, car or whatever ends today so we should stop selling it & bam it's gone.

You will get a couple of weeks warning, at the very least, that this is happening and you can buy it then (& during that period you usually see a discount for the purchase.)

They did this with Forza Motorsport 7 & others in the franchise I don't expect them to change for the new one.

Though why we are talking about this before the game even launches, ????. This isn't something folks need to worry about for several years.

I was happy to buy the premium for Horizon since it came with 2 expansions for £36. This one is £27 and they don't have anything to offer for more money so are trying to throw some ***** together. Double credits gives them an incentive to make the game a grind to urge players into it and VIP exclusive events is pretty *****. Car pass is fair enough but I won't be getting this one.

@Titntin I don't feel that way with this. Its no different from Call of Duty offering 'early' access to those who 'pre-order' and if they buy the Premium Edition, get XP tokens etc.

Its not as if ONLY Game Pass players will have to make do with earning credits at a 'lower' rate - its EVERYONE who plays the 'Standard' edition - whether they play that on Game Pass or buy it in stores. Only the 'Premium' edition, those that opt to pay 'more' for their Game (either the full Premium edition, or the 'Premium' Upgrade for the GP edition) that will get these bonuses.

Game Pass is about you getting Access to the Standard edition, the 'base' game that everyone else is expected to pay ~£70 for these days. The games that people used to pre-order and/or buy at launch. Money that is no longer coming in. Many games also had 'collectors/premium/gold' editions with Season Passes, DLC included, extra Cosmetics and/or bonuses etc that would cost more.

Because Game Pass is giving the 'Base' game away essentially, those that 'want' the Premium Edition would have to buy the whole Package - unless MS offered a 'Premium' upgrade option and its not as if you can't 'buy' the Base game when it is 'much' cheaper.

Game Pass Subscribers aren't really being 'ripped off', you are still getting the same experience as ALL those who are only interested in the 'Base' game and like everyone else, if you want the 'Premium' edition and with that, early access, DLC perks etc, then MS has a 'cheaper' option so you can upgrade to the Premium edition from the 'base' game that Game Pass and everyone else who buys 'just' the base game will get.

When I bought Forza 7, I didn't buy a 'Premium' edition so didn't get all the VIP experience - that would have cost me more. I could 'buy' those afterwards - as no doubt everyone can - although the 'early access' bonus is time sensitive. Those who did, had extra cars, XP bonuses etc etc too but you didn't think that was 'unfair'. On Game Pass, you get 'hundreds' of games, a fair number of Day 1 releases and quibbling that its only offering the 'Base' game, not the 'Premium' editions. I'd rather just pay £30 for a Premium edition upgrade than £70 for 'just' the base Game or £90 for the Premium Edition....

Whilst I certainly expected you to shill for a trillion dollar company squeezing its player base, you do not get to say what I did or did not find unfair.
I see all of this nickel and diming as unfair, and I think it all stinks and have never said differently, so please don't think you can put words in my mouth.

@Titntin So do you think its 'unfair' that so many different business have different 'tiers' in their line-ups that have differing costs depending on how many 'extras' you want above the 'base' tier?

Is it unfair to sell a Series X that offers more than a Series S for 'more' money to give a more 'Premium' experience? What about Cars for example that have a 'base' model, but all the extras will cost more - bigger, faster engines, upgraded sound systems etc.

The Game is still the SAME base game whether you play on Game Pass or buy the day it releases. It's like buying Assassins Creed 'base' game and not getting all the DLC planned for the year because you didn't buy the Gold edition - although you can buy a Season Pass to get the 'extra' content. Forza has had 'car' bundles you could buy post launch on top of the 'base' game contents.

However, on Game Pass, you get the same 'Base' experience as everyone else who won't buy 'Premium' editions with 'extra' content as an incentive to pay 'more' for the game, those not on Game Pass will have to pay (up to) £70 just to get the 'Same' base experience you can get for 'free' essentially. I know there is a fee for Game Pass, but that's not 'just' for Forza, its for hundreds of games every month you can play. Game Pass customers are NOT being screwed over because they get the BASE game to play saving them the £70 it would have cost just to play the Base game without any 'extras' or XP boosts.

There will still be 'extra' content coming to the base game too - more tracks and no doubt more cars in time too - but they'll also have DLC bundles you'd have to buy - no different from other Games that do 'post release' DLC - like Sony or Ubisoft or EA etc...

Ended up buying this upgrade.

Not that fussed about early access, but wanted the various cars that come with it and in the future.

Had £10 worth of rewards points and the upgrade has 10% off just now also.

Basically, they got me (and my money).

I am weak... bought it.
